Twins win again; beat Angels 6-4

After dropping their first 9 games to start the season, the Minnesota Twins have now won two in a row as they beat the Angels 6-4 at Target Field on Saturday. Oswaldo Arcia and Byung Ho Park hit back to back home runs for the Twins in the 8th inning to break a 4-4 tie.
TWINS NOTES:
THE TWINS earned their second win of the season today against the Angels, improving to 2-9 on the season…the win gives the Twins their first series win of 2016…tomorrow the Twins will finish the series with the Angels, looking for their first sweep of 2016…the Twins set their season-high with six runs today and three home runs…the Twins struckout four times, the fewest this season.
RICKY NOLASCO allowed four runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three in 7.0 innings…he has tossed 7.0 innings in each of his two starts this season after doing so just one of his eight starts in 2015…nine hits allowed were the most in a start since allowing 10, May 19, 2015 at PIT…in his last six starts at Target Field, since the start of 2015, Nolasco is 3-1, 6.35 ERA (28.1 IP, 20 ER).
JOE MAUER (1-for-4) has a hit in seven straight games and in nine of 11 games this season…he is now two hits shy of tying Harmon Killebrew (1,713) for fifth on the Twins all-time hit list…Mauer is a career .340 (92-for-271) against the Angels.
TREVOR PLOUFFE (3-for-4) hit his third double of the season in the fifth inning, tying the game 4-4 he has an RBI in three straight games…Plouffe collected a season-high three hits, the most since he also had three on September 23, 2015 vs. CLE…he hit his second home run of the season with a solo shot in the third inning off Weaver.
EDUARDO NUNEZ (2-for-4) collected his third multi-hit game…in his three starts this season, he is batting .818 (9-for-11)…since the 2015 All-Star break, Nunez has made 13 starts at Target Field, batting .348 (16-for-46) in those 13…he has 16 multi-hit games since the start of 2015…Nunez has made 19 starts in the leadoff spot in his career, batting .327 (18-for-55).
BYUNG HO PARK (1-for-3) hit his second home run of the season with a 462 foot home run in the eighth inning to centerfield, the fifth longest home run in Target Field history…OSWALDO ARCIA hit the first of the back-to-back home runs to put the Twins up 5-4 in the eighth…it was the first back-to-back home runs for the Twins this season.
