Ryan Zimmerman allowed just one run in 7 innings of work and Vinny Nittoli pitched two shutout innings in relief as the Saints beat Wichita 5-1 at CHS Field Thursday night. The win was the second in as many nights for the Saints over the South division leading Wingnuts and helped keep their fading wild card hopes alive.
The Saints’ Mitch Delfino’s fourth inning triple to right field snapped a scoreless tie scoring Nate Hanson. Hanson later added a two run single in the 5th for St. Paul.
The Saints travel to Fargo-Moorhead this weekend before closing out the home portion of their schedule next week with a three game set against Winnipeg Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
