Minnesota Score and Minnesota Youth Athletic Services team up to provide complete coverage of commun

Minneapolis, MN (September 25, 2019) Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) and Minnesota Score Magazine and Radio today announced a new partnership that will fill a void for coverage of youth sports throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.  “Working with Minnesota Score is a unique way to provide the coverage and content that our partners, the parent-volunteer sports associations, deserve,” said Dawson Blanck, Executive Director, Minnesota Youth Athletic Services.

The intent of this joint effort is to showcase the dedicated individuals who volunteer countless hours of time in order to provide safe, positive and productive experiences for youth athletes in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The partnership will also promote MYAS and its state-wide work dedicated to administering youth sports via tournaments, events, leagues and services. MYAS is Minnesota’s largest multi-sport organization focused solely on improving the delivery of youth athletics, with more than 150,000 kids participating in programs annually.

This partnership will allow MYAS to highlight the parent-volunteer community based youth athletic associations that host their own invitational tournaments as well as MYAS administered tournaments.  These fundraising events directly benefit their communities, associations and most importantly the participants. “The Minnesota Youth Athletic Services links together thousands of youth athletic associations, coaches and their families throughout our great state of Minnesota,” said Blanck.

Minnesota Score has been covering youth sports on radio and in print for 25 years. “We want to show the great things that go on in youth basketball and baseball as well as preview and cover the 300 plus MYAS events hosted as fundraisers by more than 180 youth sports organizations,” said Blanck.

MYAS and Minnesota Score believe coverage of youth sports should focus on the competition, participation and fun that sports provide rather than focus solely on the individual participant. Editorial will include the dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to make those memories and opportunities happen and raise awareness within their communities every day.

MYAS recognizes that participation in athletics is one of the healthiest and most cost-effective options for helping young people make good choices about life’s many decisions. This can be achieved through MYAS goals which are:  to promote sportsmanship, teamwork and cultural interaction through sporting competition. To provide the highest quality athletic programs for Minnesota’s young people and to link regional volunteer youth sports programs with others statewide.

Minnesota Youth Athletic Services, Inc. (www.myas.org) was organized in 1991 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving youth sports services to young athletes, coaches, parents, officials/umpires and the parent-volunteer athletic associations.  MYAS is a central clearinghouse for youth sports, serving as an information channel linking hundreds of youth associations, coaches, and thousands of parents. The goal of MYAS is to protect and serve the community based parent-volunteer athletic associations, while adhering to their vision of Youth Sports Done Right!

In 2015, MYAS launched “Trusted Coaches,” a nationwide platform training coaches to maximize the probability that positive things will happen to young athletes. Additionally, Trusted Coaches has created a cutting-edge education program to foster compliance with the new Safe Sport Authorization Act. More information about this program can be found at www.trustedcoaches.org.
