Eden Prairie, MN (January 12, 2017) – Vikings DT Linval Joseph has been added to the 2017 NFL Pro Bowl, replacing Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald, who is unable to participate due to injury.
With 100 total tackles and 4.0 sacks, according to coaches-adjusted statistics, Joseph becomes the fifth Vikings DT to reach each threshold and the first since Henry Thomas in 1991. His 36 quarterback hurries, 3 forced fumbles and 100 total tackles all represent new career-highs for the Gainesville, Florida native as he helped the Vikings defense finish in the Top-10 in both opponent yards allowed (314.9) and points allowed (19.2).
The seventh-year veteran out of East Carolina becomes the first Vikings DT to be selected to the Pro Bowl since Kevin Williams in 2010.
The 2017 Pro Bowl will feature a return to the traditional AFC vs. NFC game format following three years using a revised, “unconferenced” format. The two conference teams will face off the week before Super Bowl LI on Sunday, January 29, 2017 in Orlando, Florida at the Camping World Stadium.
