Twins win, Santana set for first start Sunday

Joe Mauer was 4 for 5 with a home run and the Minnesota Twins won for the second time in three days at Kaufman Stadium in Kansas City as they beat the defending American League champion Royals 5-3 on the 4th of July.

The Twins will try to win the series outright on Sunday when they send Ervin Santana to the mound for the first time this season. Santana was officially reinstated to the Twins roster on Saturday after serving an 80-game suspension for a violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Santana will be making his Twins debut, starting against the Royals Sunday afternoon. To make room for Santana on the roster the Twins returned reliever Alex Meyer to AAA Rochester on Friday.
