Twins send Kepler to AAA Rochester; release Sweeney

Ft. Myers, FL – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have optioned outfielder Max Kepler to Triple-A Rochester. Additionally, the Twins have released outfielder Ryan Sweeney who was in major league camp as a non-roster player. Kepler hit .233 this spring in 30 at bats while Sweeney hit .270 in 37 at bats.
Today’s moves leave Danny Santana, Carlos Quentin, Darin Mastroianni and Oswaldo Arcia as the remaining outfielders behind projected starters Byron Buxton, Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario.
The Twins now have 35 players in camp (8 non-roster): 17 pitchers (4 non-roster), 4 catchers (1 non-roster), 7 infielders (1 non-roster) and 7 outfielders (2 non-roster).
