Twins put Odorizzi, Littell on Injured List

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Jake Odorizzi (chest contusion), right-handed pitcher Zack Littell (right elbow inflammation) on the 10-day Injured List and have transferred right-handed pitcher Homer Bailey to the 45-day Injured List (right biceps tendinitis) while recalling right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen and selecting the contract of left-handed pitcher Danny Coulombe.
Odorizzi, who was hit by a line drive in the fourth inning last night, has made three starts for the Twins this season, going, 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA (10.0 IP, 9 ER), two walks and nine strikeouts. Littell made six appearances for the Twins, allowing seven runs and 12 hits on 6.1 innings pitched.
The Twins have recalled right-handed pitcher Sean Poppen and have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Danny Coulombe. Poppen appeared in two games for the Twins this season, allowing one run on four hits in 3.0 innings. Coulombe, who was signed as a minor league free agent this last offseason, has a career record of 6-4 with a 4.27 ERA (143.1 IP, 68 ER), 16 walks and 134 strikeouts in 153 games with Los Angeles-NL and Oakland.
Additionally, to make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins have transferred right-handed pitcher Homer Bailey to the 45-day Injured List. Bailey made one start for the Twins in late July, allowing two runs on four hits in 5.0 innings pitched against the St. Louis Cardinals.
