Twins place Sano on 10-day DL

MINNEAPOLIS — The Twins placed third baseman Miguel on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with a stress reaction to his left shin.

Sano had an MRI prior to Minnesota’s 12-4 win over Arizona at Target Field on Sunday. The team will wait until Monday to announce a corresponding move.

“They are concerned enough to get him off his feet here a little bit,” Minnesota manager Paul Molitor said. “That’s all I really know is that it’s causing him some pain and discomfort. To try and play through it, I think the risk goes up exponentially every day he’s out there. Hopefully we will have him right in September.”

Sano is hitting .267 with 28 home runs and 77 RBIs but also leads the major leagues with 170 strikeouts.
