Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Ryan Eades from Triple-A Rochester. He appeared in 16 games for the Red Wings this season, going 2-2 with a 5.68 ERA (31.2 IP, 20 ER), 12 walks and 39 strikeouts but recently posted a 2.45 ERA (14.2 IP, 4 ER) with five walks a

nd 16 strikeouts in his last eight games. Eades, 27, was selected by the Twins in the second round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Louisiana State University. He is expected to be available for today’s game in Detroit and looking to make his major league debut. He will wear uniform number 80.
To make room for Eades on the 25-man roster, the Twins have optioned catcher Willians Astudillo to Triple-A Rochester. Astudillo played in 33 games for the Twins this season, hitting .250 (28-for-112) with six doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI.
