Twins lose Easter game to White Sox in 10 innings

THE TWINS lost to the White Sox 3-1 in 10 innings today, and are now 0-1 in extra-inning games this season…Twins are now 4-2 at Target Field this season…the Twins have now lost each of their last two series after winning their first two series…the Twins pitching staff combined to throw 18 scoreless innings from the 7th inning Friday to the 8th inning today, which was the longest scoreless inning streak by the Twins since throwing 22 straight scoreless innings July 12-18, 2015.
HECTOR SANTIAGO tossed 7.0 shutout innings, allowing six hits and no walks while striking out six…six strikeouts were the most in a start since striking out six in his final start of 2016, October 1 at CWS…first time throwing at least 7.0 shutout innings since tossing 8.0 shutout on May 15, 2016 at SEA…Twins starting pitchers have allowed just one run in their last three starts (21.0 IP, 0.43 ERA).
BRIAN DOZIER (1-for-5) hit his first career inside-the-park home run to lead off the sixth inning off Shields…it was the 52nd inside-the-park home run in Twins history, and the first ITP home run for the Twins since Byron Buxton did so on October 2, 2016 at CWS…was the first at Target Field by a Twin since June 2, 2016 vs. TB by Eduardo Nuñez.
JORGE POLANCO (2-for-4) has a hit in four straight games and collected his fifth multi-hit game of the season today…over his four-game hit-streak is batting .300 (6-for-20).
MAX KEPLER (2-for-4) has a hit in five straight games, batting .421 (8-for-19) with three doubles, a triple, a home run and five RBI in that span…is now batting .343 (12-for-35) with five extra-base hits in 10 day games this season.
