Simply the Best: 1st Annual MYAS Invite Tournament set for Sunday, October 27

Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) will tip off the 2019-20 basketball season with their special 1st Annual Invite tournament for Boys and Girls teams, grades 5-8.

This exciting invitation-only event will feature the top A teams in Minnesota, with the intent of the tournament to match up the top teams in the state. It’s the best versus the best. How is this done? MYAS will use results from the 2019 Grade State Championships to determine who gets invited to this special event, while organizations that utilize the Trusted Coaches risk management platform program will get priority when selecting teams.

In partnering with programs like Trusted Coaches, MYAS continues to provide the best resources to youth sports associations.  “We are extremely excited for the Minnesota Invite Series,” said Jeremy Innes, Associate Director of MYAS. “The top teams, at all levels, are always looking for the best competition and these events will provide that,” explains Innes.

Space is limited for each division, entry fee is $275 per team and each player will receive a free t-shirt. Highlights of the tournament include:  3 Games in 1 Day, 8-team brackets, certified officials to call the games, plus photographers and writers on site to cover the action.

This fun, yet competitive tournament is a great way to start the season and showcase each team’s talent. Many of these young athletes continued to work over the summer months to stay on top of their game and this is an opportunity to further their skills.

“The Pre-Season Invite will be a great experience for the top A teams to see how they stack up against the other top teams,” said Innes. “We also have some great host group partners that are going to raise some funds for their associations by hosting these events.” In addition to this special A Team invite only tournament, B Teams will have an invite only event on January 20,  2019 (MLK Day), and C Teams will have an invite only event on February 17, 2019 (President’s Day).

MYAS is looking forward to another great season of youth basketball and hopes the players and parents enjoy all that youth sports provide. Good luck to all of the teams!

The Trusted Coaches program is another tool for youth organizations to utilize through MYAS to assure that their players are getting positive and safe instruction.  As a partner with MYAS, Trusted Coaches screens coaches and provides an online National Coaches’ Registry that parents and associations can check. The program features an identification card with the coach’s photo, verifying that the coach has completed the proper steps including first-aid training, concussion instruction, nationwide criminal background check and InsideOut Coaching course.
