MLS released 2019 schedule; MN United plays home opener on April 13

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (January 7, 2019) — Major League Soccer today announced the full 2019 regular season schedule for all 23 clubs. The 2019 campaign will mark the Loons’ first season in Allianz Field. The stadium will provide safe standing for its supporters, optimal sightlines, fantastic food and drink options with a local twist, and architecture designed to hold noise in and provide an atmosphere that is second-to-none in the Twin Cities. MNUFC will kick off the inaugural season in its new home against New York City FC on Saturday, April 13 at 4:00 p.m. CT.

MNUFC will start the 2019 season on a five-game road trip, beginning Saturday, March 2 at 5:00 p.m. against the Vancouver Whitecaps and first-time MLS head coach Marc Dos Santos. The West Coast portion of the road trip continues with matchups against two other first-time MLS coaches, Matias Almeyda and the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, March 9 and Guillermo Barros Schelotto and the LA Galaxy on Saturday March 16. MNUFC will finish the road trip on the East Coast against the New England Revolution on March 30 and New York Red Bulls on April 6.

The club will host 2019 expansion team FC Cincinnati for the first-ever meeting in MLS between the two sides on Saturday, June 29. In their final home game of the season, MNUFC will face LAFC on Sunday, September 29 before heading to Seattle to close out the regular season on October 6.
