Kluber, Indians shut down Twins

2014 American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber allowed just one hit, a solo homerun by Joe Mauer, as the Cleveland Indians rolled to a 6-1 victory over the Twins Friday night at Target Field.

THE TWINS dropped the series opener to the Indians and have lost two straight, falling to 4-9 in August…the Twins are now 18-20 in series openers, 24-25 against the AL Central and 16-43 when scoring three or less runs…Twins tied their season-low with one hit (also 6/9 vs. KC, 7/31 vs. SEA).

1. TREVOR MAY allowed two runs on five hits in 3.0 innings…it was his first start since July 1, making 13 relief appearances between starts.

2. EDDIE ROSARIO threw out Chisenhall at home after a fly out by Ramirez and followed it with getting Lindor stretching a single at second base…it marked his ninth and 10th outfield assist on the season, which passes Hicks for the team lead…his eight outfield assists coming into today were tied with Steven Souza Jr. for the MLB rookie lead, tied for eighth in the AL and 11th in MLB.

3. JOE MAUER (1-for-3) hit his eighth home run of the season with a solo shot in the fourth inning…he has a hit in 43 of his last 50 games, batting .290 (53-for-183) with six home runs.
