Indians roll past Twins 8-1 in series opener

Behind a five-home run attack, the Central Division leading Cleveland Indians pounded the Twins 8-1 Tuesday night at Target Field.  Bartolo Colon, who started his

illustrious career with the Tribe some 20 years ago, took the loss for Minnesota. However, Colon actually kept the Twins in the game through 5 innings allowing just three runs (all solo home runs). But the Twins bullpen faltered, first on a 3-run homer by Austin Jackson in the 7th, then a 2-run bomb by Carlos Santana in the 9th for the final margin. All eight Indians runs came via home runs.

With the victory, Cleveland moves six full games ahead of the second place Twins in the division. The same two teams meet Wednesday night at Target Field with Carlos Carrasco scheduled to start for Cleveland against Kyle Gibson for the Twins.
