Diggs named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Eden Prairie, MN (September 21, 2016) – Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the NFL with 182 receiving yards on nine receptions (both career highs) in Minnesota’s Week Two victory over division-rival Green Bay.

After two weeks, Diggs leads the NFL with 285 receiving yards on 16 catches (17.8 average), becoming just the third Viking with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games in Weeks One and Two and the first since Cris Carter in 1997 to accomplish the feat. Only one receiver in franchise history has produced more receiving yards in the first two games of a season than Diggs (Gene Washington, 324 in 1969).

In U.S. Bank Stadium’s inaugural game, Diggs registered the second-most receiving yards against the Packers by a Vikings wide receiver in team history. Randy Moss posted 190 against Green Bay on October 5, 1998.

The second-year WR from Maryland became the first rookie to lead the Vikings in receptions with 52 and earned All-Rookie recognition from the PFWA. A fifth-round draft pick, Diggs was the 20th WR selected in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Diggs becomes the ninth different Viking to earn NFC Player of the Week honors under head coach Mike Zimmer.
