Robbinsdale clinches a spot in the Midwest Region semifinals

The Robbinsdale Little Leaguers are now 3-and-0 at the Midwest Regionals in Indianapolis after beating Nebraska Tuesday night 6-5. Tyler Ockuly, who threw a no-hitter in the tournament opener Saturday, allowed just 3 hits while striking out 11 in 5 innings on Tuesday.

Robbinsdale opened the scoring in the first when Sam Mayes singled and later scored on a Nebraska error. Nebraska took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd, before Robbinsdale responded with 4 runs in the 4th. Nick Lauer's RBI single tied the game at 2-2. Later Ockuly doubled home two more to give Robbinsdale a 5-2 lead.

Robbinsdale led 5-4 in the bottom of the 5th when Jack Halverson scored what turned out to be the game winning run on a wild pitch to make it 6-4. Brandon Harrison came on in relief in the top of the 6th and set down the first two batters before a walk, a double and a wild ptich made the score 6-5. Harrison finished the job by fanning the final hitter with the tying run at 3rd and the go ahead run at second.

Robbinsdale moves to 3-0 in pool play and has assured itself a spot in the semifinals on Friday. No other team is undefeated. One more pool game on Thursday will determine Robbinsdale's opponent in the semifinals.
