Vikings snap 4 game skid; beat Cardinals

Despite a spectacular performance by former Holy Angels star Larry Fitzgerald, the Minnesota Vikings managed a 31-26 win over the Arizona Cardinals November 26th at the Metrodome. Fitzgerald had 11 catches for 172 yards in the loss for the Cards while the Vikings ended a four game losing streak.

Minnesota led 31-19 late in the game before the Cardinals cut the lead to 5, recovered an onside kick and nearly won it with a late pass to Fitzgerald. But Fitzgerald was ruled out of bounds and the Vikings intercepted 2004 Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart to end the game.

Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns and Chester Taylor rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown to lead Minnesota to its best offensive performance of the season. Leinart threw for 405 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

With the win Minnesota moved its record to 5-6, four games behind the front running Bears. The Cardinals dropped to 2-9 and last place in the NFC West.
