Boxing is back: Vanda, Bonsante win

For years they have been touted as the top two middleweight boxers in Minnesota. On January 12 they will finally meet. Matt "The Predator" Vanda and Anthony "Bullet" Bonsante both posted victories on Friday November 17 at Target Center setting up the long awaited match up between the state's top two names in boxing.

Vanda's win came in a 10-round unanimous decision over Dillion Carew. Carew was a late replacement for Candy Robertson who suffered an injury while training for the bout.

Bonsante scored an 8th round tko of St. Paul veteran fighter Troy "TNT" Lowry. Lowry was knocked down late in the 8th round and did not answer the bell for the 9th. With the victory Bonsante 36, claimed the Minnesota middleweight belt. That belt will be on the line when Bonsante and Vanda meet in January.

With his win, Vanda upped his pro record to 35-2-0, with 21 KO's. Bonsante is now 28-8-0 with 16 KO's. A crowd of 5,127 was on hand at Target Center for the 8-bout card..
