Gophers 5-and-0; beat Penn State 16-7

The 18th ranked Minnesota Gophers ran their record to a perfect 5-and-0 by beating Penn State 16-7 at the Metrodome on Saturday (October 2). Lawrence Maroney set a school record with his 6th consecutive 100-yard rushing game as he piled up 144 yards on the ground. Marion Barber ran for a 19-yard second half touchdown as Minnesota moved to 2-and-0 in the Big Ten, setting up next weekend's showdown with Michigan in Ann Arbor. 50, 306 was Saturday's announced crowd at the Metrodome.
