Viking offense rolls over Cowboys

Daunte Culpepper threw 5 touchdown passes to four different receivers as the Vikings beat the Cowboys 35-17 in the opener for both teams Sunday (Sept 12) at the Metrodome. Culpepper was 17 of 23 for 242 yards. In all, Culpepper found nine different receivers during the game including touchdown passes to Onterrio Smith (63 yards), Marcus Robinson (3 yards) Kelly Campbell (43 yards) and Randy Moss (3 yards and 1 yard). There was one dark cloud on Sunday for the Vikes as veteran cornerback Ken Irvin ruptured his right Achilles tendon during pregame warm-ups. He will be out for the season. Brian Williams filled in.
