Twins win opener; Mauer gets 1st Major League hit

Former number one draft choice Joe Mauer, a St.Paul native, made his Major League debut on opening day for the Twins. Mauer got his first hit in the 8th inning, and finished 2 for 3 with 2 walks. He also tagged out former Twin Matt Lawton at the plate in a key 10th inning play. Shannon Stewart's 3-run 11th inning homer won the game for Minnesota as they beat the Indians 7-4.
